State of Beer is a one-of-a-kind shop focusing on craft beer, natural wines, local ciders, and carefully-crafted fresh and local foods. This location offers options for to-go catering at the office to casual intimate rehearsal dinners or networking events at the shop.

LOOKING FOR TO-GO CATERING?

Choose between a variety of State of Beer sandwiches, salads, and more for your next gathering! For orders being placed at least two weeks in advance and for onsite events, refer to our catering menu and then submit your request or questions to our Events team.

For those hoping to submit a large order within two weeks of the pickup date, reach out to our team to confirm availability. These orders must be confirmed and paid for 72 hours in advance.



Rentable

Spaces


We offer three options for event rentals located amid our Bottle Shop. This mid-century modern-inspired space features drop lighting and an oak bench lining the wall in the dining area. We often feature an artist of the month, and part of their collection would be hanging in the space. The rooms include a mix of low and tall dining tables for seating, as well as access to the TV! Music runs through the shop from our record collection.


The Banquette space can comfortably host groups of up to 30 seated or 50 standing. This space utilizes two three-panel room screens to allow for visual privacy without fully closing the group off from the shop.

 

The Dining Annex can comfortably host groups of up to 58 seated or 80 standing. This area encompasses the full right side of the building.


For larger groups or events looking to spread out, you can also consider renting out the entire shop, which would include all indoor and outdoor space. Inside we can comfortably host groups of up to 66 seated or 100 standing, with additional seated and standing space on the patio on nicer days!

    We host a bit of everything!


    From rehearsal dinners, networking events, holiday parties, birthdays, showers, business luncheons, and more.

  • How many guests can you host?

    We have options for groups of 10 to 60 Seated or 20 to 100 Standing!


    What can work for you will depend on whether you are looking for a fully seated or a standing and mingling-style event. Each rentable section has its own recommended capacity.

  • What kind of fees exist?

    We have a Venue Fee paid to book the space itself as well as a Food and Beverage minimum spend requirement that you can meet through your bar package and catering selections. Staff are paid through a gratuity on food and beverages and the events team is paid through a service fee.

  • What type of bar packages are available?

    We provide a full range of options, from our very own Trophy beer including exclusives from the Wild & Sour program at Morgan Street to various wines by the glass and spirits. We offer several package tiers and a variety of add-ons!


    Not looking for a package? That's okay! We offer consumption based options as well.

  • How long do we have the room?

    Events start with an allotted 3-hour slot of their choice within the venue's hours. Guests are welcome to join up to 30 minutes before and after for any decorating/cleanup of that decor.

  • Is the venue accessible to guests with different levels of mobility?

    This space is all one level and is fully accessible.

  • Is there A/V access?

    Yes! The building has free guest wifi.


    There are two TVs in the Banquette section available for displays as well.

  • Where should guests park?

    While we do not have our own lot, the area boasts lots of options for paid lots and street parking within a 3-block radius. We always just recommend reading the signs noted at each parking area for what they require. The closest lots to this building include:

    • 504 Hillsborough
    • 309 Hillsborough
    • 301 Hillsborough 
  • Can we bring our furry friends?

    While we love to include pets out on our outdoor patio, unfortunately, our interior spaces are not able to host fido.

  • What does the booking timeline look like?

    The sooner you book the earlier you can guarantee your space and give yourself time to plan. We require the venue fee to be paid at the time of signing the contract.


    We ask that your final menu selections from the catering menus be submitted to our team no later than 30 days before your event.


    You'll want to be sure you've submitted a final headcount by 15 days before the event so that your order can be updated and all final payments can be finalized by 14 days before the event.

  • What do you offer for food and drinks?

    Food offerings would be selected in advance from our in-house catering menu. It would be set out buffet style in the selected space.


    For drinks, guests would have access to all of our in-house beverages from the constantly rotating selection of drafts, wines by the glass, a small selection of specialty cocktails, and all of the single offerings in our coolers, from fun non-alcoholic options to single cans of beer and cider!
